A
New Line of Large-Print Bibles

–September 18, 2007—HarperOne,
an imprint of HarperCollins
Publishers today, announced the
release of NRSV XL, a new line of
large-print Bibles. The XL line is
the latest offering from Harper
Bibles, publisher of the New Revised
Standard Version. The NRSV is widely
recognized as one of the world’s
finest translation of the scriptures
available in English.
From baby-boomers to anyone in
search of an easier reading
experience, NRSV XL Bibles
incorporate the latest trends in
design in an affordable, beautiful
package. NRSV XL will be available
in stores and online everywhere this
September.
“This is the perfect Bible for those
people like me who appreciate the
larger type but don’t want to feel
like we have been shuffled off to
the old person’s section of the
store, “ said Michael Maudlin,
editorial director and vice
president at HarperOne. “We produced
the XL Bibles for all those who
actually want to read the
scriptures,” said Maudlin.
After many years of allowing various
publishers to produce versions of
the NRSV, the National Council of
Churches of Christ recognized the
need for a single lead publisher to
direct the NRSV publishing program
and selected HarperOne to be the
exclusive licensor of the NRSV.
HarperOne and the NCCC anticipate a
new era of growth for the NRSV.
“HarperOne has for more than thirty
years published foundational,
guiding, and
provocative religious and spiritual
books,” said publisher Mark Tauber.
“This new effort to promote and
publish the NRSV in fresh and
innovative ways will lift this Bible
translation to the level it has
always deserved, but has not yet

NRSV XL is now available in three
editions and colors and a
distinctive square shape.
