YORK -- The Rev. Jerry Van Marter and the Rev. Dr. J.
Bennett Guess have taken leadership positions in
communications at the National Council of Churches of Christ
in the U.S.A.

Jerry,
coordinator for news services for the Presbyterian Church
(USA), has been elected chair of the NCC’s Communications
Commission.
Ben is
editor of United Church News and Acting Team Leader
-- Proclamation, Identity, And Communication, Office Of
General Ministries, United Church of Christ. He was named to
the Communications Commission’s Media Relations Committee.
United Church News and the Presbyterian News Service
have won many “Best of the Christian Press” awards from the
ACP.
The
NCC’s Communications Commission brings together
communications professionals of the council’s 36 member
communions to address issues such as news and media
relations, Web design and content, electronic media
production and distribution, and media education and
advocacy. As well as sharing “best practices,” the
commission seeks to coordinate the member churches’ efforts
in those areas.
