job opening in New York. This is a cabinet level position
within the
Associate General Secretary, Marketing and Mission
Communication
Description
The basic purpose and primary responsibility of the person
in this position shall be to provide administrative and
programmatic leadership giving particular attention and
oversight to the flow of information between the General
Board of Global Ministries and the constituency and the
development of marketing tools and communication resources.
Provide administrative leadership through: a. Supervision of
assigned staff, including monitoring and evaluation. b.
Participation in and provision of leadership for staff
training and development. Provide programmatic leadership
by: a. Dimensioning the operational tasks for programs and
projects. b. Organizing the tasks. c. Monitoring the
implementation process. d. Serving as project team manager
as assigned by the Board Cabinet. Produce print,
audio-visual and electronic resources at the request of the
various units of the Board while ensuring that they meet the
criteria of the Boards over all marketing/ communication
strategies. Some major accountabilities include, ensure that
high standards of quality, clarity of language, timeliness
of data, and sound theological background are incorporated
in all materials produced. 2. Ensure that information
dissemination through computerized communications (i.e. 800
line, home page, and internet) is serving the Board and the
constituency with current data and as required.
Requisites
Education Master’s Degree in Communications/ Marketing or
equivalent. Other Specialized Knowledge Theological and
mission ministry. Strong writing skills a must. Experience
Minimum of five years experience, particularly in the area
of print, journalism, communications technology,
marketing/branding and an understanding of the mission
activities and projects of The United Methodist Church
globally.
