ACP welcomes new board member

Verity Jones, publisher and editor of  DisciplesWorld.com, is the latest addition to the ACP Board of Directors, filling the term vacated by Deb Wagner, who recently left her full-time communications position at New York City-based Seaman’s Church Institute to pursue communications consulting work for clients including the Institute, Episcopal Life and others.

Previously senior minister at Central Christian Church in Terre Haute, Ind., Verity assumed leadership of DisciplesWorld in July 2003. The magazine was established in 2002, is a journal of news, opinion and mission for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). From the magazine's outset, she wrote a column on Christian unity. She also has written for Christian Century, Biblical Preaching Journal, the Journal of Preaching, and other publications.

 

Verity received a master of divinity degree from Yale Divinity School, earning summa cum laude honors. She received a bachelor's degree in humanities from Yale College, earning magna cum laude honors.

 

She comes from a distinguished family of Disciples. Her father, Joe R. Jones, was dean of the Disciples-related Phillips Theological Seminary and later president of Phillips University and professor of theology at Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis. Her sister Serene is ordained and a professor at Yale Divinity School.

 

Verity is married to William Wagnon. They have one daughter, Gracie.
