March 21, 2008
Dear ACP members,
The Board of Directors
recommends that the Associated Church Press Bylaws — along
with the Statement of Ethics and Standards of Professional
Practice, and a summary of the organization’s history — be
amended at the annual business meeting during the 2008 ACP
Convention meeting April 20–23 in Dallas-Fort Worth. As
usual, the annual meeting is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon
(April 22).
A copy of the proposed changes
can be
downloaded from the ACP website. For specifics
regarding our rules for amending the Bylaws and voting
eligibility, see sections VII and IX of the Bylaws.
The board does not view the
proposed changes to be substantive as much as they are a
long-overdue updating. We believe the changes will help in
membership recruitment and align more closely with current
media-related trends and practices. Please feel free to
direct any questions about the changes to me.
If you have not already done
so, I hope you will register soon for our exceptional 2008
Convention. I look forward to greeting you in person at the
Marriott Solana Hotel in Westlake, TX.
Sincerely in Christ,
Terry A. DeYoung, ACP
president
