ACP Board proposes bylaws changes

Here are the modifications to the bylaws the ACP Board approved at the fall board meeting. ACP members will vote on the changes at the annual convention, April 25.

    Section III, paragraph (3)

    Original
    (3) Affiliate membership (non-voting) shall be open to institutions, organizations, and business firms whose purposes are in general consonance with those of the ACP, and to non-Christian religious publications. Affiliate members shall be eligible for committee membership as provided herein but shall not be eligible to serve as officers or on the Board of Directors. Affiliate members shall not have the right to vote on any matter submitted to the vote of the membership.

Revision removes restriction on board membership.

The offices of Executive Director and Treasurer may be held by the same person. The President and Vice-President shall be ineligible for reelection until one term shall have intervened.

Revision disallows Executive Director and Treasurer from being the same person.

The six additional members of the Board must be either employees of publication members or individual members.

Revision reduces board size to 4 additional members beyond the Officers and Past President
    (2) The four members of the Board of Directors elected at an annual meeting of the members shall serve for three years and until their successors have been duly elected and qualified, and in the interests of administrative continuity and efficient management shall be eligible for reelection to an additional term. The terms for the four elected members of the Board shall be staggered, so that at least one of the four is elected at each annual meeting.

The proposal was that these two positions will reduced by scheduled attrition, one occurring in 2014 and the other in either 2015 or 2016.
