ACP 2024 Annual Convention – Covering Conflict in a Polarized World

The Associated Church Press is holding its 2024 convention May 15-17 in Chicago. We will return to the facilities of Fourth Presbyterian Church and our preferred hotel, the Millennium Knickerbocker, with a program focused on journalism, publishing skill development and knowledge sharing.

Bekah McNeel is the keynote speaker for this year’s ACP 2024 convention. Her upcoming book, This is Going to Hurt: Following Jesus in a Divided America, will further mine the possibilities for faith-based journalists to report effectively on religious matters.

You may remember Bekah from her workshop on Solutions Journalism last year among her other contributions to faith-based journalism. An exciting program is developing and we’re pleased Bekah will be leading us into these important conversations.

We are pleased to welcome More in Common to present findings from their Faith, Politics and Polarization in America report which explores the intersections of faith, politics and polarization in America today. It is a core component to help explore the conference theme of Covering Conflict in a Polarized World.

More in Common surveyed over 7,000 Americas to better understand the impact of polarization on faith communities, misperceptions within and across diverse faith traditions and common values and experiences that have the potential to transcend real or imagined divisions. This presentation will be an opportunity to dig into the data, reflect on misperceptions, and identify strategies to elevate nuanced narratives of what it means to be a person of faith in America today.

Click here to view information on the additional workshops on social media video production and promotion, online fundraising, podcasting, AI in the newsroom, reporting on migration and immigration, remote newsroom management solutions, and a panel on covering denominational conflict are on the schedule.

There are still a few workshop slots available, so please email us with your workshop and keynote presenter recommendations!
