Opening New Portals, Building Community

    Everything has changed. As cliché as that sounds, the last year has been marked by a dramatic shift in communications: from the ways and places we do our work, to our awareness of the voices of underrepresented groups, to how we utilize technology to connect and distribute information.

    Are you ready to start a podcast or improve the quality of your existing podcast? What are ten useful tools and tactics for strengthening your communications work? How will you include underrepresented voices in your reporting? How can you write more effectively about different religions? And what are some new models for religious journalism today?

    These are some of the topics that will be explored at Opening New Portals, Building Communitythe April 6-9, 2021 joint online convention of the Associated Church Press, Religion Communicators Council and Canadian Christian Communicators Association.

    Opening New Portals, Building Community is designed to help communicators—reporters, editors, publishers, writers, marketers, freelancers, videographers, photographers, graphic designers and more—who work for the religious and mainstream media, denominations, religious and other organizations and non-profits and others to be supported and encouraged as people of faith and to network and develop and improve their skills.

    In addition to plenary speakers, panels and workshops, it will include the business meetings and award ceremonies for the Associated Church Press, Religion Communicators Council and the Canadian Christian Communicators Association.
