Two Associated Church Press members have merged. The Mennonite, the denominational magazine of Mennonite Church USA; and Mennonite World Review, an independent newspaper; have joined to create Anabaptist World.
The merger creates a new nonprofit, Anabaptist World Inc., born on Sept. 1 and based in the former MWR office in Newton, Kan. The new entity continues the missions of both publications: to serve the members of MC USA, as The Mennonite did, and to independently cover all Mennonite groups and the global Anabaptist movement, as MWR did. The website is anabaptistworld.org.
The new print magazine, with 8,200 paying subscribers, will debut with the mailing of the first issue on Sept. 18. Former MWR editor Paul Schrag continues as editor of Anabaptist World. Danielle Klotz of Goshen, Ind., is the executive director and CEO of Anabaptist World Inc. Former staffers of The Mennonite did not continue: Gordon Houser retired after 42 years with The Mennonite, and Sheldon C. Good resigned to pursue other opportunities.
